Still Alive

Just busy. A lie. Haha!!

I’m not out of the country either. I’m here.

Have a new boyfriend?? With the correct answer of course being: How I wish!!

Everything’s fine too. Just a bit bland. A plateau.

Can’t get anything hardwired into my system. The mental juices have dried up. May ganon?? Haha!! Come to think of it, I was once scared that this day would come and now that it’s actually happening, I realized it’s not really that terrible. At times in life, you just need to breathe.

OMG!! A lot of people will be thankful for this. I mean, come on, KC shut up for about a week. What a relief!! Haha!!

And there it goes. Another nonsense from the whole nonsense thing that is this blog. Hahaha!!!

See you guys when I see you. ;)

Carrie Meets Becky in Shopaholic Movie :)

Hey, it's summer now!! Can you feel the heat?? :) Okay I know this intro is quite far, like million miles away, from my title but hey gotta love my new summer-y skirt. :) Oh, please say it's cute. Please. Haha!!

Not only it is summer inspired but I also told you I've been catching up on SATC series lately, so remember Carrie in the opening credit of the show?? Nevermind if you've forgotten already. ;)

See?? Tucked in tank top on a skirt. :) Lavet!! Except that she probably wore it with high-heeled shoes in that combo. :)

It would be lovely for a date with a guy but 's okay coz Mike's expression (when he first saw me) didn't disappoint. Mike is like Carrie's Stanford. I'm so not elaborating it but atleast he can appreciate each and every piece of my statement. ;)

Xiela just to let you know I was dying to watch the premiere night of the movie you didn't bother to invite me, hmp!! Haha!! But just like she said in her review, yes it's very funny!! In Sam's blog before I was already forewarned about movie adaptations being far from book's story so I didn't expect too much similarity. All I know is that Hugh Dancy is so cute and if my life is so-like Becky Bloomwood then I have to have faith that I'm gonna find a cute man like him someday. Hahaha!!! :))

I have an image equation for you. What happens if Carrie meets Becky??

Hahaha!! I was just making fun. I didn't really buy that many. It just so happened that I do collect paper bags and used them as props in the pic. :)

However, what a coincidence! I've never seen Sex and the City movie but in most fashion blogs I do know that one thing remarkable from the film is Carrie's Metallic Gladiator shoes found below:

Is that it?? OMG, it's definitely something like it!!! I just spent again on a pair of shoes. Tsk!

And some more pics:

(a) waiting for my shoes (b) shopaholic backdrop (c) dinner with Mike (d) same reaction when I found the shoes. Hahahaha!!!

Oh and btw in that very same spot of picture (a) I coincidentally met bagaholic Cathy looking at some shoes. She's also goin' to buy the gladiators. Haha!! Fun Saturday! :)

Oh No, He Didn't

How come??? How did this happen?? My younger brother told me that he emerged as the winner. He, being this close to the entertainment industry, I just had to believe him. Aaargh!! They’re always like this to me – my brothers!! How many times have I been told about something that they’re so certain about you won’t detect a hint of trick in their face and stupid KC was led on to believe coz the thing merits her side?? And then what irritates me the most is that I will learn that I’ve been duped like more than one day after?? I hate them!!! X-D
Anyways, this is not about them. This blog is supposed to be posted on Saturday early morning – after the culmination of the El Ultimo Participante of Pinoy Fear Factor?? This should be about celebrations – congratulations and all for making me believe that there really exists in life a superman!! Tell me Manuel, WHY??

* Sigh * I’m so sorry. It’s just that I’ve never been this affected in my entire life over a bet. This just really means something coz I really wasn’t a fan of the show ever since. It only happened during the long Christmas vacations – too long that I’ve run out of things to do at night but fix my eyes on the TV. They had this recap of the past challenges and from there I developed a new crush.

Suddenly, time on the gym was cut short in order to catch the show at night. I’ve googled and googled for news about the winner but I wasn’t that lucky to find something. Last night was different, I intentionally skipped my favorite dance class coz it was critical – he was endangered to be eliminated from the Fantastic Four or rather the Fearless Four. I don’t wanna miss the announcement that yes he was indeed safe and will proceed to the next challenges. But all bets were off mere minutes after the show started. He was sent home after staying longer in the buried alive challenge that methinks was really scary there’s no way I will do that!

So just like that, huh?? After setting quite a number of new records, impressing the Argentines Fear Factor crew and everything’s down the drain. I can’t take it!! How come he was called SuperManuel in the first place?!?! I just don’t get it. * sigh* So sad. Really sad. =,(

He’s still the most deserving winner for me. If only I had known him during the ASAP day where they were guests, I could've taken a second look at him. :( Well anyway, I believe what's most important is that he'll be successful in real life with his schemes and tactics!! I'm always impressed with these kind of men - those who have a way with things. And I'm not entirely ruling out his cute face and nice bod. Wahaha!! Too bad he's got a kid already!! Haha!! :)

Adios Supermanuel!! There's no more reason to watch that show and I guess it's time for more gym. After all, Bora bora is just a month and a half away. *wink wink*

P.S. Those who can send me his pic with the Superman costume on will be highly appreciated. Haha!!

Pulling Off A Carrie Bradshaw

Shoes anyone?? Strap it all the way, baby!! ;-)

But first of all, allow me to say this. BOO on you Aldo!! X-D How come a very popular brand of footwear (with ludicrous price if I may add) can only come up with a biggest size such as 9 for women?? And I thought this all came from the West with naturally taller women and expectedly longer feet??? How come??? I'm so disappointed!! And while I'm at it, sorry also Zara but there's also no loving from me to you when it comes to your shoeses. I mean, yeah you have 40 but most of them wouldn't fit me. X-D!!

So okay, it might be my feet that's totally abnormal. I hated it eversince my Mom decided that I have to stick to my last schoolyear's worn-out mary janes when I was in Grade 6 just because she didn't want to live through a whole day (or days) of finding a new pair of school shoes for me. :( But then in my secondary years where by chance I can get hold of fashion magazines and closely scrutinize those skinny models in their footwear, I learned that I'm not alone. You can actually observe that their open sandals/stilettos are too small for the length or width of their feet. ;-) It has become my comfort knowing that, "Hey, I have the feet of a model!" Wahaha!! Silly me!!

After that, I've come to love it. I mean, who else would love my very own feet right?? I think that having this mammoth of a feet also served as a blessing since I'm very much sure that if I have the regular size (say 8 or 9) then the number of my footwear will be twice as to what I have now. Haha!!

So lately I've been digging these strappy boots thingy and I found one in Aldo and yeah I was ready to let go of that ridiculous price and all but hey, they let me down. Well it turned out to be another blessing coz once upon a tour-guiding where I accompanied my colleagues in Greenhills for gifts shopping, I spotted that shoes above in one of the stalls. And would you believe that it's the very same style of the one I'm craving for in Aldo?? For reals!! It's a local brand and you cannot really underestimate the capability of Pinoys when it comes to imitating. Haha!! It's 6 times reduced to that of the price in the shop and I can't believe I was willing to buy at that price?!?! And I realized how depressing could it be if they actually have the size and I saw those in Greenhills?? Gosh, I'm gonna wail and weep like a baby right then and there. Haha!!

Okay, enough time for story-telling. Time for debut-ing the new shoes. ;-)

Lavet!! Hehe.

Oh yesterday also after the Sunday meeting, my uncle and tita from Riyadh celebrated their 32nd anniversary last week and invited us for dinner. :) Happy Anniversary Uncle Chit and Tita Sol. :)

Lem with another baby model, Luis. Hehe.

At home giving Choi Choi the perfunctory scratch,

Remember the book I told you about last time?? I'm absolutely not raving about it. But as if it wasn't enough understanding the whole single debacle, I bought this DVD of SATC complete from Season 1-7!! (Pirated obviously blame it on the colleagues looking for cheap finds!! ;-)Would it be admitting defeat that I've never really watched it before??? I didn't also go for the movie!!

I don't know but I suddenly have this kick-in of becoming a journalist like Carrie and dig thoroughly on this topic. Oh please let me be not obsessed with it!! Please!! But if there's another thing that Carrie and I share in common, well obviously it's our undying love for footwears.

Only hers are the expensive ones. ;-)

Running My Office

Lately, I'm getting tired 'splaining to everybody my job set-up. It's exhausting. :P Can I just say I run my office?? Haha!!

I remember when I mentioned to the Intel girls last time about how one day I went to the bookstore to buy my "office supplies", they gave out a hearty laugh about it. They find it amusing.

This week was once again happy (and busy if I may add) coz some of my colleagues flew from SG. Still different when you're talking business with them face to face. :)
Meetings/ Client catch-up/ Etc. You have to look appropriate. ;)

Yes and I love the bow too. Hihi. Took me forever to find a long-sleeves that fully covers my arms and not "bitin". If you guessed that the shirt came from MNG, you got it right! And if you guessed that it's another 50-off, then you really know me. Hahaha!!

Keeping up with the white theme of the week though I'm not that confident about this, I went for:

Midsection's kinda crumpled coz I tried tucking it under the high-waist wide-legged trousers just to see if it looks okay. After which didn't have time to fix anymore what with the crazy sked for the day.

After having taken this pic below, I once again realized the power of image versus words. Can I just show this to everyone asking about my work?? This is me in my office.

Wahaha!! How I wish!!! But the scenario is pretty much the same. Yeah, pretty much.

Judging from the utter lack of coherence of today's post, I am hoping you roughly have an idea on how the last days were like for me. So when somebody asked me what am I goin' to do on Saturday?? I absentmindedly responded "Nothing. Why? What's with Saturday?"

Then explanation. And I can only say in dismay "Oh!! That??" Blank.

Berdeng Mga Burol (Greenhills)..Wehehe

Greenhills – the memoirs.

After working for the province for like 2.5 yrs, I was still very much expecting that I will land a job in my dream workplace: Makati. But then again Greenhills was a very welcome surprise.

This place is very familiar. My mom with a biz partner rented a stall here sometime in my senior year in secondary. Then after that, I remember coming to this place for two memorable occasions. (1) Competing for an all-girls Math competition in La Salle Greenhills where I represented Trigonometry. It was my first-ever outside the campus competition. It was unforgettable not because our group entered the final round (we didn’t win though :c) but because I was only fifteen that time studying in a pre-engineering high school and I’ve never seen so many cute guys roofed in just one campus in my entire life!! Hahaha!! La Salle Greenhills is an all-boys school if you must know. ;) (2) The next trip was already in my college years where I went to Music Museum to watch my friend perform the lead role in one of the school plays. I was proud going there because he or she (*wink*) borrowed my cream pants with its matching butterfly belt to be used for the entire show. We’re both Mariah fanatics that time. And for an hour and a half, I watched how he gave justice to my pants and how he looked fierce in it. Very well done!!

Greenhills – the office.

A few months of working for Samsung and I discovered the downside that being geographically located in such a state below – I mean being the only corporate building on that side of Road 2 – I have a very slim chance of meeting other people outside the office (where are the urban people here?) and the difficulty of having a nice place to eat aside from the local cafeteria without crossing the overpass that leads to the shopping complex on the other side of the road. But then you know later on you’ll just have to see the brighter side of it like for example avoiding less crowded cafeterias since we only share it with another known company upstairs, no Starbucks chain available just outside your office (unlike the ubiquity of it in Makati hence saving you money and sparing you from the calories ;) and etc. As for the meeting people, hmmm maybe I’ll just disregard it since it’s not much of a primary concern. Hahaha!!
this is poorly done by me, pardon!! haha

Greenhills - the Shopping Center. :)

You’re all not stranger to the fact that during lunchtime back in the office (not everyday ok? ), I patrol the area scouring for some cheap finds, appreciating some starting local designers and contemplating whether I can carry those Class AAA LV/ Chanel or any other bags of haute couture and make them look authentic in me. Haha!! Although I’ll still stick to what I said way way before that items here are a bit pricey than in DV, still there are items here that can’t be found in its low-end version.

Greenhills – the Cinema.

Back in Samsung, we were given free movie passes at least every other week and although I used like only 30% of what was given to me, I’d still prefer the coziness of the cinemas here. And oh, it’s a nice place to spot some celebrities too!! ;-) Hehe.

Greenhills – at Night.

Walking back after gym @ night, I always loved the drama of beholding the sight of our building coming from Connecticut Ave. It must be the trees that initially cover the building which slowly unfolds as you walk horizontally across it. Beautiful.

But just so you know, GH is not good for very late night-outs with friends. It’s already a ghost town by 2 AM which me, Allen and Mike discovered and actually witnessed one Friday gimmick night. :P

Greenhills – FF.

In my bitch’s words: “Kumo-quota ka jan ah!” We all know how PT (personal trainer) come to you and offer training programs just so they can reach their quota for a month right?? Lisa used the term to connote my performance when it comes to the men I’ve met there!! Crazy!! Haha!! Anyways, I’m more grateful for the quota met on friends I found here – Cathy as you all know being on top of the list. :) How doing retro is more enjoyable in here than in any other branches (because of the doňas ;) and how jam is better because of the instructor. :)

And because of all these, I’ve come to love the place. Yep, more than two months resigned from Samsung but I still keep coming back here. That is the reason why you didn’t see me posting anything about the things that I’m going to miss about my company – a month of working for the newest one and I still visit the office here during field work then go straight to the gym. Funny huh?? But then a month before that, specifically starting this year, it was different. Because it was the day – the day they went away. Hehe. They already moved office to somewhere in The Fort, Taguig. :(

What’s even funnier is that I just started this document writing about the things to miss about Samsung but ended up waxing poetry about Greenhills. Haha!! Yes I can say I love this place but it’s still different when that small entity that became a part of your life here for about a year and a half is not here anymore. :( Then again I better start enumerating those things in my list.

Size 10 Is Not Fat!!

In the US, everybody's obsessed with a size zero! That's why there's this book Size 12 Is Not Fat and I patterned from it for today's title. :P

I think it's just all about choosing the dress with nice cut that accentuates your curves which is what Warehouse is all about. ^^ In here, I can be proud I'm a size 10. But what I'm more proud of is how I got that dress. :)

It's another 50 off-er!! :P This was the particular dress I was aiming for last time I blogged about them. I wasn't sure if it was the lack of size for this particular dress since I picked up a lot during that time and I couldn't be standardized in just one size for all of the styles that asking them to reserve a size 10 in a different branch for this might not guarantee a nice fit. It was all a hazy memory. But still I kept coming back because their styles are just simply FAB!! And tell me why shouldn't I when there's this big bold 4-letter word printed in their shop that always makes my heart jump with delight!! Yay!! Haha!!

In a whiz of a zip, I became slimmer and sexier!! LOL!! And in a swipe of a card later, I walked out of the shop with my head high clutching my first ever dress from this shop. I knew it!! This dress was meant for me!! Hahaha!! It may have taken me two months before finally owning but the waiting was worth it!! Wahaha!!

And there goes another inspirational story for you!! Wahaha!! My very own dress-success story. :))

How To Be Single

That feeling of finding something after going through racks after racks of books in the store is one of my most treasured feeling in this world!! It's sheer joy!! Methinks that it's even better than meeting a great guy!! Hahaha!! Now I better stop before my conscience beat me up and tell me I'm a hypocrite!! Wahaha!! :D Anyways, this is what I'm talking about - my latest discovery. :)
Ookay. This is sooo not a self-help book. If you haven't guessed by now, I'm not a fan of those. Even the last book given to me as a gift by a girlfriend (which is about dating if you must know) was left unread in my shelf. Sorry dear!! :)

As for this, not only did the girly cover and the catchy title appealed to me but also the author. Her resume reads as one of the co-authors of "He's Not Just That Into You" - again another one of those famous self-help books a friend of mine from Samsung told me about before. I've read parts of it coz I wanna understand why she treats it like her new "bible" and in as much as I want to, I just felt its pointless coz I don't really go out that much with many guys. No worries coz it was recently turned into a movie making it in my list of to watch out for this or next month. I love that Scarlett Johansson stars in it. :)

Plot:

Following a disastrous night out that began with steaks and martinis and ended in hospital, Julie Jenson decides that she and her four single friends, Georgia, Alice, Serena and Ruby are doing something wrong. Between them, there's more dysfunction and disappointment that she can handle.

So Julie quits her job and sets off to discover how women around the world deal with the Single Life. From proud Parisiennes to intense Italians, ice-cool Icelanders to brazen Brazilians, Julie attempts to learn the secret of these women's successes.

Did the first paragraph already remind you of someone?? A girl with many single friends?? Hahaha!! After going through a quarter of the book, I discovered that stellar insights from her other book were already incorporated here through some of the characters. If you only knew how page after page I keep on marking some parts of the paragraph for future reference (well, who knows I might need them someday right?? Haha!!) plus the fact that I can relate to each and every character plus the travel factor in it - it's official: This book is perfect!! Hahaha!! Specially this month when you all know what's coming next week!! :P

Now instead of writing some angsty post on why there ever had to be an occasion such as that (which is of course a negative feeling and we certainly don't wanna waste our energy with that ;), I'd like to come up with something informative. Right! As though I've come up with anything of that sort before!! Wahaha!! But like I say, I've already picked up a lot from here as of now and it would be better if you single friends out there also read it for yourself and share your thoughts about it. Ayt? ;)

My Movie!! LOL!!

Hey, why didn't they make the lead role of this movie?? Wahaha!!! I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!! Hahaha!! :))

After finishing the Shopaholic series, I made a book report about a year and a half ago. It can be found on this link. It's not something with an abstract, plot or the likes but rather a Becky-KC correlation. Oh how I truly felt connected with the heroine of this book. Hahaha!! I will list them all here (for those who don't wanna exercise their forefingers and click :P) and yes, I will check them out in the movie. Wahaha!!

#1 STUCK IN A BORING JOB

Becky and I were both initially stuck in a boring job. The only reason that kept us holding on is the dough we’re getting out of it. We both thought of leaving but like what she said: “The thought of no money is more scary than the thought of writing about depository trust companies for the rest of my life." Which, translated in my previous job, “The thought of no money is more scary than having 5 xRBs, 10 PTRs and 20 deliverables in Intel.” :D

#2 NO BOYFRIEND

Scene: After being fired from Ally Smith, she met Tom (a childhood friend who thinks she’s still hankering after him) shopping for his new girlfriend. After that, she felt how come she didn’t have a boyfriend to buy her stuffs in Tiffany’s. Well, not that I would want someone to buy me something but it touched a nerve when she said it’s still a boyfriend for you to phone up during work, use as an ammunition against creeps and the like. *sigh*

# 3 INVESTMENT

Noun: Property or another possession acquired for future financial return or benefit. For Becky and KC’s definition:The exact word to use for justifying an expensive, unnecessary item or a luxury during shopping. Enough said! * LOLS* [Proof]

#4 UNDERTRAVELLED

Scene: Becky meets Suze’s mom and helps her dress for the wedding. Caroline then tells her about the sentimental values of some things she got from traveling around the world and about having a Bolivian peasant as a best friend. That instance made her feel under traveled which I can say I can connect to. I mean, the amount of money I spent for shopping could’ve been used for some nice adventures within or out of the country.

#5 THE MANHATTAN ONCE-OVER

Simply defined as a swift, 3-second top-to-toe sweep costing your outfit to the nearest dollar. Though we both have this hobby of surreptitiously glancing on other person’s outfit, I totally adore Becky for being able to identify which each and every item came from. Coz mine is more of checking on the style but the fact that he can do it on men is really WOW!!

#6 SURVEYS

Same with her, I also love to look impressively always in the mirror especially when someone has just flattered what I’m wearing for a day. Secretly also, I imagine myself being spotted on the mall and being checked out but not for the brand of my clothing but more on the style labeled as best dressed or something like that. Hihi. Ssshhhhhhhhhhh!! Gosh! I’m such a hypocritical cow! =P

#7 THE RELIEF OF SHOPPING

If we were both asked, “How do you cope with stress?” (Like for example, the morning sickness during her pregnancy and mine on work) Our unequivocal answer to the question would be SHOPPING of course. Haha!! It’s a no-brainer dude. [Proof]

#8 EARRINGS

On an interview for Vogue, Becky made a quick recap of her outfit. Everything seems to be impressive (DVF, Prada, Topshop) except for one: the earrings. The bloody earrings. Haha! Because it wouldn’t be cool, she thought of telling them it’s vintage and not from her mom. And reading it was just like hitting me BULLS-EYE specially when I was writing this post! We’re so thinking alike! Haha!!

#9 PAPARAZZI

Ok. This have to be admitted albeit embarrassing that like how Becky chased after the models in the birth center just to be caught by the paparazzi is let’s just say a hidden agenda of mine during our events. Can you blame me? Come on, who knows where could those pics come out? ;)

#10 ORANGE TOP

And lastly, this just has to be included to make myself clear. Just because we’re self-confessed shopaholics doesn’t mean that we always look impressive. For instance, the scene where Becky had Luke followed and found out her suspicions were wrong and in a funny way connected it to the wrong Orange top she got from Ebay means that not everyone should set high expectations on us. Come on, we’re not models dressed up by designers. Ok Anonymous? [Proof]

Some of the above scenarios are yet to be shown on the sequels of the film while some may not anymore be applicable today but what the heck?? A shopaholic will always be a shopaholic!! LOL!!
